Trips Tours Moonlight
Nosotros: Sudeste Paseos & Travesías

SUDESTE, whose initiator is Martín Schoo (see personal review below), is a business that deals in guided kayak trips in and around the Delta of the Paraná River (see section on the Delta region). It sprang out of our desire to flee the City of Buenos Aires (only 30 km - 20 mi – away), which allowed us to discover in the Delta’s rivers and islands a calm, secluded, fresh, and green refuge serving as temporary relief from the city’s frenzy.

We organize regular and customized day trips, night paddling trips, and overnight camping tours of different levels of difficulty, physical demand, and duration. We provide the sea kayaks, as well as the necessary equipment to successfully and safely complete our tours. On all trips and excursions, a guide will accompany the participants to assist them in identifying and approaching the sporting side of kayaking as well as the Delta’s natural and cultural heritage. Ours is not merely a recreational activity but also an educational endeavor that promotes kayaking as an environmentally-friendly physical activity, makes us aware of the potential of the Delta’s ecosystem, and which allows us to share our feeling of adventure.

ABOUT MARTÍN SCHOO, SUDESTE’S INITIATOR.
Martín holds a B.A. degree in Communication from the Buenos Aires University of Business and Social Sciences (UCES, Spanish acronym). In addition, he has completed several courses in photography and documentary filming. He has held exhibitions of his photographic work, particularly the one entitled “Anfama, un paraje rural en los cerros tucumanos” (“Anfama, a rural setting in the hills of Tucumán”) at the National Institute of Latin American Anthropology and Thinking. Martín is a kayaking instructor (certified by the Buenos Aires Federation) that has extensive experience in both flat-water kayaking and rowing. He has organized and carried out numerous tours around as well as across the Paraná Delta by linking the Uruguayan river towns of Mercedes, Nueva Palmira, Carmelo, and Colonia to the coastal city of Tigre in the Argentine Delta. He has also taken part in hiking tours in various hill and mountain regions of Patagonia and the northern Province of Tucumán, as well as in biking tours, among others one from San Martin de los Andes in the Lake District of southern Argentina all the way to Pucón, Chile, across the Andes. In addition, he has completed a sailing-coxswain course offered by the University of Buenos Aires Nautical Department, plus training in first-aid in wild areas given by the Foundation of the Argentine Rescue and First Aid School (EASPA, Spanish acronym), and also courses on alternative tourism and environmental interpretation (at the Rojas Cultural Center). Martín is bilingual Spanish/English, having successfully completed Cambridge’s First Certificate, CAE, and Proficiency exams. He spent a full year working and traveling in New Zealand.
